179th post

CONTINUED FROM THIS MORNING....

As Father drives on I could not imagine what would be there to replace these

farmer's fields of today. Ashby Storage Units (when they were first building

these these units, Mother and I would take our folding chairs and climb up

on a pile of dirt (clay mostly), left for use later by the construction company,

and we watched sporting or other events (the Turner Ashby Marching Band,

graduation, etc.) There's the new Turner Ashby High School moved from

Dayton (I graduated from there in 1961) and now an intermediate school

named Wilbur Pence). Bridgewater Car Wash is here, too, all of these

places off to the left and across the road (now Herring Lane instead of

US State Route 42) from my parents house.

I guess with me talking so much we're going to be real late for Sunday dinner

at our grandparents. I think we need to call and say that we'll be back in two

weeks for Sunday dinner. There's a phone in the house just down the road on

the left of someone we know......

Summary of the XXXI Olympiad.

SPORTS OF THE (NEW YORK) TIMES

By SIMON ROMERO and ANDREW JACOBS, AUG. 21, 2016....

"For Rio residents, the intoxicating mood of the past two weeks will

inevitably give way to an array of challenges: the inadequate sewage-

treatment system, the growing poverty and a broken state government

unable to pay thousands of civil servants on time. Rio’s mayor, Eduardo

Paes, who hitched his political fortunes to the organization of the Games,

was booed when he appeared on stage Sunday night, a reception that

stood in contrast to the applause for Japan’s prime minister, Shinzo Abe,

who appeared to mark the transition to the next Summer Olympics

in Tokyo in 2020."

“Summer's lease hath all too short a date.”

― William Shakespeare, Shakespeare's Sonnets

from goodreads.

I left the Honda' car windows open last night and the seat cushions seemed a

little damp this morning, but I ain't taking no chances and watered the flowers

anyway.
