CONTINUED FROM THIS MORNING....
Grandmother's phone, like I said, was on the left wall of the living room
after walking thru the kitchen. If you wanted to make a call to someone
you picked up the thing (it looked like a small barbell but, of course, it
was a lot lighter. This is what you listen into and was not attached
permanently, but held in a holder attached to the phone box by a
telephone cord. The telephone box was rectangular being about 1 foot
at the top and bottom and about 2 feet long on each side. There was
something like a small megaphone attached permanently to the box
that you spoke into and something like a doglegged handle that you
could wind clockwise to dial up the operator....

CONTINUED FROM YESTERDAY EVENING....
Mother would sit in the chair and read and I would ly down with my head
facing either west or east on the couch in the southwest corner of the
recreation room and read the books that I enjoyed. I had purchased a
bird feeder and hung it on an aluminium pipe that I could swivel so that it
would be closer to Mother's sight at the south picture window. I had a
lot of trouble with blackbirds, but after looking it up on the internet I
found out that they will not eat safflower seeds....

Ryan and I went to Wooster today. I wanted to go to Pat Catanns (a craft
store with some plastic stack-able storage boxes that I wanted) Lowes, for
a bag of black mulch and some wood screws that I needed to tighten the
American banner flag that hangs above and to the right of the front door.
It needs to be hung at a 45 degree angle or else it will wrap around it self.
I also wanted to go to PostNet that mails letters, packs, applies postage and
ships packages, sells greeting cards and postcards and other services that
I'm not familiar with yet. I bought some potcards of Amish living who live
just one county south of the county we live in (Wayne)....
