CONTINUED FROM YESTERDAY

THE ROAD TO MY GRANDPARENTS CLINE....

We are still in the year of 1999 and the final days of living for my Uncle Paul.

If I can remember correctly, the lady of the house, was who was always very nice,

where Uncle Paul staid in the dog kennel in the back, phoned me at Mother's to

say that he had an appointment in Fishersville (near Staunton). I went over and

picked him up in the white Ford Ranger I had at the time and went to the clinic

in Fishersville. Thinking back, I should have gone in with him at the time

because he came back moments later saying he had no appointment.

Uncle Paul was still drinking at that time, of course, and believe his brain was

a bit addled and could not remember things of everyday life.

On our return, we stopped at the BP service station that's close to Interstate 81

and its companion and parallel road of US Route 11. The road that intersects

these two roads here is where the west intersection ends, but if you take it east,

you will in about 2 miles more or less come into Weyers Cave. This very small

town is kind of a Cline family tree of sorts, where Mother graduated from

Weyers Cave High School in 1935. The rest of her siblings graduate from here,

too, to include my Uncle and her oldest brother, Orvine, her younger sister and my

Aunt Ruth and Mother's baby brother and my Uncle Lester who also drove the

school bus. Uncle Orvine and Aunt Ester's, and Aunt Ruth and Uncle E C Showalter's

kids went there too and maybe 2 of Uncle Orvine and Aunt Ester's grandchildren.

Back to BP with a Subway inside.  I wanted to get Uncle Paul something to eat

because I do not believe he had eaten for 4 or 5 days because of what he said

to me earlier. I went to the Subway counter and order a 6 inch sub. And then

I turned to see where Uncle Paul might be and then I noticed that he....

US PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

Debate 9:00PM Vice Presidential Nominees Debate at Longwood University.

BBC News

"The BBC poll of polls looks at the five most recent national polls and takes the

median value, ie, the value between the two figures that are higher and two

figures that are lower.

Are Trump and Clinton the only candidates?

No. They're the only candidates that stand a real chance of winning the race, but there

are other third-party and independent candidates in the running.

The rules around getting on the ballot differ state to state, but most voters will have two

main alternatives to Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

Graph to show four way poll average. Source: RealClearPolitics four-way poll average

Green Party candidate Jill Stein, 66, is a doctor and activist who is hoping to pick up

Democrats who backed Bernie Sanders and continue to rally against Mrs Clinton.

Former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson, 63, is standing for the Libertarian Party

and focusing his efforts on attracting Republicans uneasy with Mr Trump.

According to polling resource website RealClearPolitics, Mrs Stein is picking up about

2% of the vote in a four-way race while Mr Johnson is fairing slightly better at a little

more than 7%. Neither can win the race with stats like that, but they could siphon

enough voters off of the major candidates to change the outcome in a close race."

UNITED STATES

The U.S. isn’t one of the top 10 most free countries in the world, study says

In 1840, males outnumbered females 8.68 million to 8.38 million in the United States.

By 1950, there were more females than males for the first time in U.S. history,

according to the U.S. Census Bureau. See other statistics showing how America has

changed over the last 225 years. Credit: U.S. Census Bureau

"With costly healthcare, a stereotype of obesity and a culture of creatively fatty

foods, “healthy” probably isn’t the first word that comes to mind when you

think of the United States.

But according to the Legatum Prosperity Index’s findings for 2015, the U.S.

is the healthiest country in the world. However, when it comes to freedom,

an ideal most Americans pride themselves on, the U.S. falls to 15.

So what’s the country with the most personal freedom? Canada, followed by

New Zealand, Norway, Luxembourg and Iceland.

Personal freedom, as defined by the London-based Legatum Institute,

measures a nation’s performance at both guaranteeing individual freedom

and encouraging social tolerance. Canda was ranked No. 1 due to 94 percent

of its citizens saying they believed they had the freedom to choose the course

of their own lives and 92 percent saying there was tolerance for ethnic

minorities and immigrants.

Overall, the U.S. was ranked the 11th most prosperous country out of 142,

with Norway snagging the top spot. Other areas measured are the economy,

entrepreneurship and opportunity, governance, education, social capital and

safety and security.

The U.S. was ranked highly in all categories except safety and security, where

it has dropped to number 33. In fact, in the study’s key findings, it said the U.S.

is “an increasingly dangerous place.”

“It is also the only Western country to register high levels of state-sponsored

political violence,” the study says. “According to Amnesty International the

country has the same level of political violence as Saudi Arabia.”

The safest countries are Hong Kong, Iceland, Finland, Ireland and Sweden.

Do you live in one of America's unhealthiest states?

Hawaii is America's healthiest state, North Carolina improved the most, and Louisiana

is ranked dead last in the 2015 America's Health Rankings Report from The United

Health Foundation."

‘Go to hell!' Philippine president attacks Obama and says he is not 'afraid' of the EU

PHILIPPINE leader Rodrigo Duterte has told Barack Obama to "go to hell" and said if

the US refused to sell weapons to his country he would buy them from Russia or China.

"Relations between the two countries have been strained since Mr Duterte's

election in May.

He called Mr Obama a "son of a b****" last month and warned him not to

question his policy of extrajudicial killings which has seen around 2,400

people killed by death squads deployed in a war on drugs.

The firebrand politician has now threatened a foreign policy shake-up, accused

the US of "failing the Philippines" and insisted: "I will break up with America".

He raged: "Although it may sound s*** to you, it is my sacred duty to keep

the integrity of this republic and the people healthy.

"If you don't want to sell arms, I'll go to Russia. I sent the generals to Russia

and Russia said 'do not worry, we have everything you need, we'll give it to

you'.

"And as for China, they said 'just come over and sign and everything

will be delivered'."

Mr Duterte said he would be reviewing a two-year-old US-Philippines

Enhanced Defence Co-operation Agreement which gives US troops some

access to Philippines bases and allows them to set up storage facilities for

maritime security and humanitarian and disaster response operations.

He said Washington should have supported the Philippines over its drugs

problems but instead chose to criticise it for the high death toll, as did the

European Union.

He said: "Instead of helping us, the first to hit was the State Department. So

you can go to hell, Mr Obama, you can go to hell.

"EU, better choose purgatory. Hell is full already. Why should I be afraid of

you?"

He later said he was feeling emotional because the US had not been a friend

of the Philippines since May.

He said: "They just reprimand another president in front of the international

community.

"This is what happens now. I will be reconfiguring my foreign policy. Eventually, I

might in my time break up with America."....

The comments are the latest in a barrage of hostility which has taken Washington

surprise and is largely ignored.

US State Department spokesman John Kirby said: "Frankly, it all seems at odds

with the warm relationship that exists between the Filipino and American people

and the record of important co-operation between our two governments,

co-operation that has continued under the Duterte government."

Several of Mr Duterte's allies have told him to behave in a more statesmanlike

manner but he said his outbursts were sparked by provocation.

He said: "When you are already at the receiving end of an uncontrollable

rush, the only way out is to insult. That is my retaliation.""

Well, Mr Duterte, maybe you should run for the President of the US. You speak the

truth to your supposed allies. Except for killing, raping and child molesting,

drug dealing in the end hurts a lot more people sometimes. I knew several

people from the Philippine's when I was in Las Vegas this past winter and they are a

beautiful island people who are both friendly and kind.

Mr Duterte, I admire you for your patriotism to your wonderful island country.

HEALTH

I went to my appointment to see Dr Chicorelli and staff today. The rash on my

is gone, so now I can have the good doctor to operate on my wrists

(Carpel Tunnel). Well, I was not right about wrists, she is going to operate on

one, the left, and I don't understand that because I'm right handed. The good

doctor talks fast, too, and I just can't listen as fast as I could when I was younger.

She finally manage to get me to listen fast enough and thru it all the nurse or

another part of the friendly staff that sat in the northwest of the room, typing the

foreign language that all doctors like to use, seemed to have a twinkle in her

eye and smile upon her lips in reaction to what I said.

Melissa phoned later with 4 appointments and the second would be the surgery

date October 19. My 74th birthday is on October 27 and I hope I'll live to see it?

IN THE FLOWER GARDEN WITH FORREST CARICOFE

I believe that finally I can plant those bulbs today.  I went to see my favorite

family doctor yesterday. Dr Kwok believes in immediately stopping his patient's

pain. I was given 4 shots, two in each buttock, he gave me a prescription for a back

X-ray and 4 prescriptions that mostly reduced inflammation and told me to call if

my condition staid the same or got worse. And I do feel better. Thank you all,

Dr Kwok and staff.
