OUR HOUSE ON OTTOBINE ROAD....
CONTINUED FROM YESTERDAY....
I guess there ain't much more to tell because I don't remember much more of
OUR HOUSE ON OTTOBINE ROAD except I don't know if I told you about the
Showalter girls. They were about 4 or 5 years older than us. That might have
had brothers, but I don't remember seeing them. They're were maybe two or
more of the sisters of the Old Order Mennonite faith that just lived up the road.
We, maybe Roland and me, would walk or bike to their house. I don't think
they ever visited at our house, we just went to theirs. If we walked or biked,
we'd go out our lane a turn left and stay on the left facing traffic like Mother
always taught us to do. About a half mile and just before a wide upward curve
to the left on Ottobine Road we would turn right onto the Showalter's lane to
their house. It was of gravel and packed hard dirt and a slight downward
slope and could be compared to a football field's distance. After you got to
the house if the sisters weren't near, you turned left with the lane and moved
around to the back of the house where the barn and silos stood. There was
pond directly east of the east side of the house where the Showalter girls
tried to teach us to ice skate in the Winter. Roland might have learned, but I
never did. We didn't spend a lot of time at the Showalter's place because they
had to learn to be wives and Mothers. But for the times we did share some time
together, I guess you'd say that the Showalter girls were our big sisters that
we never had....

*Cuban President Fidel Castro has died at age 90.
Castro was the son of a well off sugar planter and took control of Cuba, who
suffered under the corrupt quarter-century dictatorship of Fulgencio Batistain,
in 1959, promising his county's people that he would share with them the wealth
of their island nation.
His death was announced on Cuban state TV by his younger brother, Raul, who
has taken over the reigns of the government some years ago.
*Listening to the TV (5:29 AM 11/26/2016 EDT). Russian President
Vladimir Putin has sent his country's condolences to the Cuban people for the
death of their long time revolutionary leader, Fidel Castro. They have had a
long relationship, beginning when both were communist nations.
*Cuban exiles in Miami's "Little Havana" are celebrating the death of Fidel
Castro and maybe in Havana, too.
*Fidel Castro has outlasted 10 US Presidents.
MY OPINION
Will Cuba become a more free nation now? It already has. I believe that Raul
Castro has quietly allowed some minor changes to take place, maybe, because
of his brother, Fidel's, mental and/or physical condition. US President Obama
has lifted some restrictions for US citizens traveling to, trading with, etc. and
he had to get that permission from someone in the Cuban government.
We'll see what happens.
*Dinosaur-Killing Crater Study Validates Geological Theory
By Eric Mack | Thursday, 24 Nov 2016 10:06 PM
Excerpt from full article:
"A drilling expedition of the massive Chicxulub crater off of the Yucatán
Peninsula in Mexico has confirmed scientists' dynamic collapse theory of
formation, according to Science magazine.
The crater, caused by an asteroid believed to have wiped out dinosaurs
about 66 million years ago, provided evidence of "shocked, granite rocks
from deep in the crust placed 'out of order' on top of sedimentary rock,"
which caused a "peak ring.""

HEALTH
I've told you all before about prescription medications causing side affects.
Well, I told you so.
A source says that 1 in 250 Americans go to hospital emergency rooms for
allergic reactions to the medications that they are taking.
For adults, like me, who are 65 and older, the ER visits are 1 in a 100.
The prescription medications are much the same that cause reactions:
1. Blood thinners,
2. diabetes medicines
3. antibiotics
4. opioid painkillers
*I just turned on the TV (3:50 AM 11/26/2016 EDT) and heard that people
who were thought to be allergic to penicillin are not. The newscaster went on to
say that because of people being labeled allergic to penicillin, alternate and
less effective medications were prescribed that cause more side affects. It is
believed that as much as 90% of people who were thought allergic to
penicillin are not.
MY OPINION
I know I've been giving MY OPINION a lot lately and maybe you don't like it.
But, you see, I know how you can fix that. Don't read it.
Americans are spending a lot of money this season on Christmas and for other
things. A lot of those items they don't really need and/or the people, kids mostly,
don't want them. If American's throw away 30% of their food, maybe they're
throwing away 30% of their holiday related items. Why? Don't ask me. No, I do
have a few answers. I believe in "waste not, want not."
Use your brain and think more about what you intend to purchase.
If you make a mistake like in giving a gift to a child and they don't want it, don't
throw it in the trash, give it to "toys for tots" (USMC) or some other worthwhile
organization. Same with food. If you bought it and don't want it, give it to a
homeless shelter or even your neighbors. If it's a perishable item like raw beef
and has rotted and smells like a dead rat, throw it into the nearest field away
people traffic and let the buzzards eat it. I know they are so-called ugly, but I
know they have a good heart.

The residents of war-torn Aleppo are starving and we throw away 30% of our
