OUR HOUSE ON THOMPSON STREET ....

CONTINUED FROM YESTERDAY....

All of the jobs I had during my lifetime where when I lived at the Thompson

Street house with my family or after. Today, I'd like to type all the jobs that I have

had up until today. If you remember the quote of yesterday: "A job is just a job

if you do the same thing every day, but it's not just a job, but an adventure, if

you have different experiences every day."

Well, I've had a lot of jobs and I've had a lot of adventures and gained a lot of

experiences because of that:  Dayton 1. Digging footers at the Thompson Street

house for Father - 25 cents an hour. 2. Working for "Boots" Heatwole at the Texaco

service station - maybe 50 cents an hour. 3. Delivering the Washington Post

newspaper - maybe $8 a week. 4. Don't remember any details, but I'm sure I

shoveled snow and raked leaves for some Dayton resident - maybe for a $1

more or less each time. 5. Carried two buckets of coal from the basement to

the middle floor and dumped them into a warming stove for a man who lived

downtown - 25 cents a bucket - total 50 cents. 6. Cleaned the work floor and

the office of a printer - 25 to 50 cents an hour.

And to be continued with jobs that I have had during my life time....

TO BE CONTINUED....

WORLD

*Scientists say that the Arctic has just had its warmest year on record. I don't

live in the Arctic and I don't care what the temperature is there. I live in Ohio and

it's going to be a low on Thursday of 4°. That ain't warm at all.

*Just received an email from postcrossing.com:

MONEY

CONTINUED FROM YESTERDAY....

"Just after entering the door (of the bank) I could see that the branch manager

might be available. He saw me and told me to have a seat in his office.

I could tell he was a Christian because of a carved wooden like item with word

"Jesus" sitting on a shelf on the south wall of the office. I also would learn later

that he, like me, liked country music. Being branch manager, he was in charge

of the music that was played and the young tellers out front who liked Justin

Bieber, Madonna and etc. did not have a vote. He had no southern accent that I

could tell and maybe he was just a transplanted Yankee and carpetbagger.

I didn't have to wait long before the branch manager came in to his office, we

introduced ourselves and then got down to business. He said that we would have

to talk to an investment counselor at the investment headquarters in Cleveland.

He phoned and gave his secret credentials not knowing that I have a hear-o-

graphic memory. The phone was on speaker and the branch manager asked

that we exchanged chairs so that I could hear the investment counselor better

not knowing that I had better hearing that both of them put together. All those

young people, like all the people in the bank at the time, thinks us old folks can't

hear because of our advanced age. The investment counselor on the phone said

he needed to ask me some questions to see if we were "on the same page." How

can someone and me determine whether were're "on the same page" or not if we

ain't siting side by side in the same office?

Well, "to make short story long" which is what happened and you may have heard

my old saying that "you can say anything important in 10 words or less." That was

not the case here. It was the investment counselor and me talking only, but the

branch manager could hear him too. Well, "to make a long story short," the

conversation ended in about an hour and I signed my signature 3 times on some

papers and said goodbye to the investment counselor after he said that he would

send to me a proposal by email.

I then said goodbye to the branch manager and as I walked to the door I waved at

all the others and said Merry Christmas and they in turn did the same.

Update: I just went to my Google email and saw that I had a message from the

investment counselor. I read over his proposal and replied to him: "I am

completely satisfied with this proposal. Good write up. Let's complete this the

fastest way possible.

Thanks.

Forrest

Let's just see how fast this can done.

*The Federal Reserve raised interests rates by a quarter point in part due to

the President-elect's proposed economic plan.

HEALTH

I slept over 8 hours today. Shame on me. That to me means that I have only 16

hours to get things done and not the usual 18. I hope that my body doesn't get

into a routine for that because 2 hours x 365 days = 730 hours divided by 24 =

30.4 days which = a little more than a month of me being in a coma.

THE US PRESIDENT ELECT

*President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Republican Rep. Ryan Zinke to serve

as the head of the Department of the Interior. Zinke has served as Montana's at-

large for 1 term. He was a Navy Seal from 1986 to 2008. He has shown loyalty to

America's outdoors and at the same sided with those that support the use of fossil

fuels.

*Forbes annual list of the world's most powerful people list Russian President

Putin once again at No. 1 and President-elect Trump as No. 2.

My opinion is that next year these standings will be reversed.

The Weather Channel - Weather Underground - AccuWeather

Just making my 2nd pot of coffee (7:43 AM 12/14/2016 EDT). I made my 1st pot

about 1 1/2 hours ago. After I start the coffee maker I'm going outside to take the

the outgoing mail to the mailbox and check the outside temperature and

humidity. As you can see from above, it ain't going to be very warm. I'm still

wearing shorts but I'm wearing socks and shoes now. I always wear a heavy coat

in these temperatures because my top above my belly button always gets much

colder than my bottom parts.

Just got back (8:21 AM 12/14/2016 EDT) from outdoors. I had to take the trash out

too so I spent a few minutes outside longer than I thought I would. The temperature

is 15° and the humidity is 80% with just a hint of the wind wanting to blow,

maybe 1 mph. There were rabbit tracks in the snow that's about 2 inches deep. I

hope the rabbit is finding something to eat. Using the two web sites at

http://www.dpcalc.org and http://www.onlineconversion.com, I get a wind chill

of 15.73° and dew point of 10%.

I now need to eat my breakfast and take my morning pills (8:40 AM 12/14/2016).

I was a little disappointed with those Portuguese sardines of yesterday so to make

up for that I will have the king of sardines, wild caught King Oscar.
