OUR HOUSE ON THOMPSON STREET ....

CONTINUED FROM YESTERDAY....

"6. Cleaned the work floor and the office of a printer - 25 to 50 cents an hour. And

to be continued with jobs that I have had during my life time...."Most of the jobs

that I had during elementary and high school were just mentioned in numbers 1-6.

I do not remember having any job when I attended Shenandoah College in

Winchester, Virginia for a year. I transferred to Bridgewater College for the next

year and remember having job No. 7. It was bending automotive exhaust pipes

at Walker Manufacturing in Harrisonburg. I can only guess what I made, maybe

50-75 cents an hour. I don't believe I had any more jobs at that time until I finished

my 2nd year of college and hitched-hiked to Houston, Texas with $20 in my

pocket (I couldn't made much at Walker with only that amount of my total wealth).

If I go in order, time wise, I'm going to have to repeat mentioning the jobs that I've

already told you about. But I'm curious to know just how many jobs I've had in my

74 years of living....

TO BE CONTINUED....

HEALTH

I have an appointment to take a stress test tomorrow at the Cleveland Clinic

Wooster at 9:00 AM. I wonder why they call it a stress test. I ain't going to be

under any stress unless they threaten me with water-boarding or another

method of torture. I should do OK. The last time I had a stress test was at the

old Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The told me

to walk on the treadmill until I wanted to stop, but in the end they stopped me.

*I took my last water pill and the other pill that's necessary for the water pill to

work. I'm hoping, like I told you before, that the swelling in my feet doesn't

return because you know I don't like taking prescription medications. I'm

thinking seriously, if I in the end must take these two pills until my drop-dead

date, to stop all of my prescription medications to see what happens. Only 2

results that I could see happening. Dead or alive.

I read a book once (I don't read books anymore, when Mother stopped reading,

I stopped reading) that said there was a book in which a cloister of monks

in an underground chamber had compiled a list of date of deaths for everyone

in the world until 2027. I don't know if it was fiction or non-fiction. If the book

is non-fiction, I'd sure like to see it so that I'd know my expiration date.

Wouldn't you? Of course, if you are a young person, your drop-dead date, most

likely, will be after 2027.

*I just saw were Turmeric might be the "natural remedy of the century.

They (doctors of course) say that it is beneficial for youthful energy, a stronger

heart, smarter brain and pain free joints. In the roots of the plant there is a

compound called curcumin which combats inflammation and is an antioxidant.

And to top that off they say that it improves mood balance and boosts immune

system health.

Inflammation is not only caused by injury, but what is called "silent inflamation"

which makes old people like me feel older.

I've been taking Turmeric Curcumin 500 mg whole herb (from Spring Valley

and a product of India) once a day for some time as a combination of supplements

for my prostrate (you women don't need to read this because you don't have a

prostrate. Go back, start over and skip this sentence).

I've been taking only one capsule a day, but now I'll take 2 every day with meals.

But you see, I know what my problem is. It's called SALT and that's my fault.

VENGEANCE

The war in Syria has been ongoing for over three years and since there are so

many players (nations) involved, with many violent factions, changing allegiances

and a continuous stream of refugees, the face of the war is constantly in flux.

The dictator of Syria who calls himself President is Bashar al-Assad.

Major states supporting his dictatorship are Iran and Russia.

Other factions supporting Assad are:

1.  Assad's own Syrian Armed Forces with an estimated strength of 220-280,000.

2.  Iranian Revolutionary Guard's Special Forces. Estimated strength: 10,000.

3.  National Defense Forces (NDF) and Allied Paramilitary Groups. Estimated

strength: 100,000.

4.  Hezbollah. Estimated strength: 20,000 to 30,000.

Forces fighting against Assad and his supporters:

Major states that want Assad removed from power: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey,

(to a lesser extent the USA and some European countries)

1.  The rebels. Sunni Islamists, secularist forces and Kurdish and other militias.

2.  Islamic Front. Estimated strength: 40,000 to 70,000.

3.  Jabhat Al-Nusra - Al Qaeda's official affiliate

4.  Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (AKA: ISIS, ISIL, DAASH)

5.  Free Syrian Army

Popular Protection Units (YPG) and Allies, including some Christians, who are

a group who want Assad gone and Kurdish independence.

Estimated causalities for this over three year war range from 100,000 to 150,000

killed and 9 million refugees who have been taken in by many countries around

the world. Human right abuses include rape, torture, be-headings, crucifixions,

use of chemical weapons and other barbaric acts and all to include children and

on both sides of the conflict.

MY OPINION

It seems to me that the U.S. is fighting a war with Russia through a 3rd party and

by participating they both appear to support the barbaric acts of both sides. I

would think that the best solution here is that both Russia and the U. S. withdraw

their bomber planes, military equipment and forces and let the Muslim world

fight their own battles. If it wasn't for the women and children, I would say nuke

the entire country along with Assad and settle this in just a few short minutes.

THE US PRESIDENT ELECT

*The President-elect's potential pick for a Secretary of State was like a soap opera

for a while and after he announced his choice of Rex Tillerson it has become a

bigger soap opera. His financial ties to President Putin and his view on climate

has caused quit a stir on both sides of the aisle. He referred to climate change as

an ‘engineering problem.’ And Tillderson does not favor sanctions like those

imposed on Russia for its military excursion into Ukraine and might have a fight

on his hands for believing that.

*Both Mike Huckabee and Rudy Giuliani have turned down offers for cabinet

positions. Kellyanne Conway, Trump's campaign manager also declined the

job as White House press secretary.

*Fox News Monica Crowley will join President-elect Donald Trump's

administration as a deputy national security adviser and will report to national

security adviser, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn.

WEATHER

Weather for Smithville, Ohio

Today                PARTLY_CLOUDY     11°   3°

Fri                     CLOUDY                       21° 19°

Sat                     RAIN                              50° 24°

Sun                    CLOUDY                       24°   2°

The Weather Channel - Weather Underground - AccuWeather

Just went outside (6:38 AM 12/15/2016 EDT) for about 20 seconds to check the

gauge that I have on the deck outside the enclosed deck. The temperature is 8°

and the humidity is 73% with the wind blowing in from the northwest at

about 5 mph. Using the two calculators:

http://www.dpcalc.organdhttp://www.onlineconversion.com, I get a dew point

of 1% and a wind chill of - 1.11°. Compared to the figures of yesterday ( a dew

point of 10% and a wind chill of 15.73°) I literally froze my arse off for those 20

seconds that I spent outside.

I just made (8:12 AM 12/15/2016 EDT) and ate half my breakfast sandwich.

Orleans sardines in soybean oil(a dollar a can), maybe 14 sardines to the can

today and a product of Poland and not China. Like I told you yesterday, I don't

like farm raised sardines. The workers who cannot hold it may pee or poop in

the water. There are a society of urine drinkers in the world, but, I believe,

they drink their own urine and not someone else's.

Back outside (9:13 AM 12/15/2016 EDT) again to take out the trash. The

temperature is 11°, the humidity is 73% and the wind is hurtling in from the west

at about 15 mph.  Using the two calculators again at:

http://www.dpcalc.organdhttp://www.onlineconversion.com, I get a dew point

of 4% and a wind chill of - 5.31°

*It's going to be extremely cold in the eastern and central U.S. this week. It's

called a polar vortex and the weather service is warning residents about

potential hypothermia and frostbite.

Wind chills that fall well below zero can cause frostbite in as little as 10 minutes.

Hypothermia occurs when ones body temperature becomes dangerously low

and brings on chills, drowsiness and confusion. Doctors advise those, especially

the elderly and the homeless, to not drink or consume anything that dehydrates

like coffee, caffeinated tea or caffeinated soft drinks but plenty of water.

They go on to advise to wear layered clothing to prevent the loss of body heat

cover all exposed skin and wear insulated boots and wool socks.

Shoveling snow is always mentioned when the weather is like this. I you have any

heart related issues have someone else shovel the snow. Use a snow blower if you

have one. If you don't have to go anywhere stay in the durn house and sing "Let

it snow, let it snow."

And another thing, don't drink and drive. No Forrest, what's wrong with you.

Don't drink and shovel snow is what I mean. Besides dehydrating you, you

might get so drunk you'll shovel your neighbor's walk and driveway instead

of your own.

Out to the garage (12:03 PM 12/15/2016 EDT) to get a clock I had out there.

I need a better and bigger one than I have in my room right. My vanilla yogurt

was frozen so I brought that inside also. The temperature has risen to 20° and

the humidity has dropped to 63% with wind blowing in from the west at about

10 mph. Using those online calculators again, I get a wind chill of 8.85° and a

dew point of 9%. The sun has been showing its' face all along since daylight

and has helped me more to endure the cold.
