MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL.
CHRISTMAS FACTS
http://www.factretriever.com/
"1. Norwegian scientists have hypothesized that Rudolph’s red nose is probably
the result of a parasitic infection of his respiratory system.
2. The Germans made the first artificial Christmas trees out of dyed goose
feathers.
3. Each year more than 3 billion Christmas cards are sent in the U.S. alone.
4. All the gifts in the Twelve Days of Christmas would equal 364 gifts.
5. The “true love” mentioned in the song “Twelve Days of Christmas” does not
refer to a romantic couple, but the Catholic Church’s code for God. The person
who receives the gifts represents someone who has accepted that code. For
example, the “partridge in a pear tree” represents Christ. The “two turtledoves”
represent the Old and New Testaments.
6. Two weeks before Christmas is a popular time for breakups. According to
data analyzed from Facebook posts, two weeks before Christmas is one of the
two most popular times for couples to break up. However, Christmas Day is
the least favorite day for breakups.
7. Most of Santa’s reindeer have male-sounding names, such as Blitzen, Comet,
and Cupid. However, male reindeers shed their antlers around Christmas, so
the reindeer pulling Santa’s sleigh are likely not male, but female or castrated.
8. In A.D. 350, Pope Julius I, bishop of Rome, proclaimed December 25 the
official celebration date for the birthday of Christ.
9. According to the Guinness world records, the tallest Christmas tree ever cut
was a 221-foot Douglas fir that was displayed in 1950 at the Northgate Shopping
Center in Seattle, Washington.
10. The traditional three colors of Christmas are green, red, and gold. Green
has long been a symbol of life and rebirth; red symbolizes the blood of Christ,
and gold represents light as well as wealth and royalty."

MY STAY AT THE SENTARA ROCKINGHAM MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
CONTINUED FROM YESTERDAY.... "Well, I had to make a decision knowing that
I could not make it back to Mother's house. And I'll tell you about the decision
that I made that day when tomorrow comes...." My decision was to try to make it
to the local hospital (Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital) about 3 miles
away. I figured that the city snow plow crews would clear the streets to the
hospital first for emergency vehicles.
I had to rock the car back and forth until I got it out from the parking space at
Walmart. I turned the Honda around pulled out into the high snow trying to
keep it going and not let the car stop. I turned to right and found myself just back
of the city bus stop. I believe that there was a concrete abutment and a
sidewalk here there but I didn't hit anything. I backed up the Honda to near the
southend of the eastern end of the stores that lined the street from north to south
and vice-versa.
I was then able to turn the Honda to the left and then to the right, driving by the
Walmart gas station and then turning left to face a stoplight in a short distance.
At the stoplight I paused only briefly and then turned the Honda to the left, the
rear wheels slightly sliding to the right.
I believe Mother and/or Father was sitting in the passenger seat that day
because I was pretty much the only one on the road and I still do not know how
I missed that concrete abutment....

consider the crash to be a result of a technical problem and not one of

I told you about not moving around on this past Friday and feeling awful
physically because of that. Yesterday I moved around more or stood at this
computer like I'm doing now and I feel much better. It looks like a senior
citizen like myself should have learned from the past. But I ain't perfect and
I'm a failure to myself once in a while.
I have not pooped for 2 days and I know the reason. I have not been drinking
enough water. I surely ought to know that I need to do that by now.

The Cleveland Browns professional football team finally won their 1st game of
the season. They beat the San Diego Chargers 20-17. The San Francisco 49ers
also won their 2nd game of the season so the Browns still have the first choice in
the college draft. The Browns are 1-14 and the 49ers are 2-13. So, now, the
Browns have lost their perfect and winless record.

MY OPINION
I see that saying Merry Christmas is no longer as much of an issue as it once was.
Several years ago there was a movement to say "Happy Holidays" instead of
"Merry Christmas", in part due, to a small minority of people who were offended,
atheists, non-Christians, etc. and a lot of businesses did the same.
Because early Christians believed that Jesus is the light of the world, they chose
December 25 to celebrate the birth of Christ (Jesus) and included other things
that are associated with the winter solitice like Holly, Mistletoe and Christmas
carols.
I don't know why the early Christians chose the 25th of December because the
winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere occured just 4 days ago on the 21st
of December at 5:44 AM (EDT) which is also the shortest day of the year.
Other countries in the world celebrate Christmas on a different day. Russia, for
example, celebrates Christmas on January 7.
What would happen if we returned to the old days of celebrating Christmas?
One gift that was needed, not wanted.
A lot of businesses would go out of business.

Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. The forecast: "numbing cold and snowy."
Went outside (8:08 AM 12/25/2016 EDT) to the Honda to get a Christmas gift
from the trunk. The temperature is 34°, the humidity is 80% and the wind is
blowing silently in from the east at about 3 mph. Using the online calculators at:

day and having bought about 8 cans of Orleans sardines at Rite Aid yesterday,
that's just what I'll have this morning.
