MY STAY AT THE SENTARA ROCKINGHAM MEMORIAL HOSPITAL
CONTINUED FROM YESTERDAY....
"wondering if the head of security was watching, hoping that I might fall...."
I continued the likeness of a ballerina as I moved from one place to another
that was cleared of ice and slick snow. It was almost like using stepping stones
to cross by foot over a shallow stream or river. I could not see the parking lot
at the front entrance to the hospital yet which led me to believe that if I would
have gone the other way when leaving the emergency room exit, I would be
there by now. I guess it was maybe 30 minutes before I reached Mother's Honda
and then I saw that the car and all the others were blocked in from the plows
clearing the streets of the parking lot. The snow was at least 2 feet in height and
I had no shovel and then....

WORLD
*(6:00 AM 1/2/2017 EDT). Breaking news on the computer screen from the
Washington Post. ISIS claims responsibility for the attack in Istanbul, Turkey
which killed 39 people. ISIS cited Turkish military actions against them for
the reason.
MY OPINION
*ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) or IS (Islamic State) has continued its
barbaric fight against all those opposed to their religious beliefs. I believe
that we could use our special forces units and other countries with the same
military capabilities to infiltrate and kill the leaders in the countries where
ISIS is located. I know from being in the military that all soldiers are taught
to be leaders so that if your leader is killed, you can immediately take the
leader's place. That is not true of all military organizations. Often only the
the leader is trained to be the leader and if he/she is killed the rest of the
unit will fall apart.
Our special operation to kill Osama Bin Laden is just an example.
*I'm going to a pharmacy in Wooster today to pick up a special prescription
medication that Rite Aid couldn't get. While I'm in Wooster, I'll stop at a book-
store in downtown to see if they have postcards for sell. I need a more variety
of postcards to mail as a member of postcrossing.com. I know when Mother
was alive we participated in postcrossing.com and I purchased postcards at
a bookstore near downtown Harrisonburg, Virginia.
I just got back (12:25 PM 1/2/2017 EDT) from Wooster. The book store had no
postcards, but I then checked at City News and they had some old postcards
of the immediate Wooster area at 75 cents a piece. Little expensive for my taste.
I bought 4 postcards and The Saturday Evening Post which I always liked and
a lot cheaper than the rest of the more popular magazines at $4.99 plus tax.

UNITED STATES
*Chicago is the murder capitol of the United States. This city had 762 homicides
last year (2016) as compared to 585 in 2016. That is an average of over 2
homicides a day. That's more murders than New York and Los Angeles
combined. Most of these murders have occurred in mostly black, poor and
gang infiltrated neighborhoods of the city's south and west sides.
MY OPINION
If I had a family and lived in those neighborhoods mentioned above, I'd move
out of the city to protect my family and I would do it now. There are many places
in the United States that are safe places for families and I do not see a good
reason for remaining there. I know that there are family ties, jobs, etc. that
we think cause people to stay, but the choice between safety and death of a
family member is a simple choice and there should be no reason for families
to stay if there are threats of death lurking on the streets of the city.
I'd get the hell out of Dodge (Chicago)!
HEALTH
*This is the 4th way out of 5 to the "Fountain of Youth as described in the Farmer's
Almanac. The last 3 were (1) drinking enough water, (2) exercising and (3) getting
enough sleep.
The 4th way is intermittent fasting. This entails eating on a 6 to 8 hour time frame.
The suggested plan is to "eat nothing until mid day (after this meal wait 14-16
hours before eating again) and eat only whole foods like green leafy vegetables,
black beans, healthy protein and fats (nuts, avocado, eggs, butter, coconut and
olive oil). Drink bone broth to heal stiff achy joints, improve skin's elasticity, and
reduce cellulite."
Bone broth is not chicken or beef broth. Bone broth is made by roasting bones
(chicken, beef, human or other) first and then simmering for 3 to 4 hours. Bone
broth can also be purchased online. A health food store may also have bone
broth.
"Intermittent helps you stay fit, active and more youthful by burning fat faster
and building muscle thus slowing the aging process and improving your
physical condition and appearance. Intermittent fasting stimulates the natural
production of Humane Growth Hormone (HGH) which heals the skin and
reduces the likelihood of premature wrinkling. It also reduces sugar cravings
and thus assists in maintaining a healthy weight.
MY OPINION
This intermittent fasting is new to me and I hope to try it. I have everything I
need to eat to follow this suggested plan except bone broth and coconut oil.
I know I can buy coconut oil at Walmart, but I have never seen bone broth.
And I know what you're thinking. No, I'm not going to dig up a cadaver from
a graveyard and roast and simmer the bones.

POLITICS
*The President-elect still remains doubtful about the seriousness of Russia's
cyber attacks.
MY OPINION
*President-elect Donald Trump continues to keep good relations with the rest
of the world while some Republicans, Democrats, the present administration
and the media call for punishment for Russia and others. What he is doing is
calling for peace in the world and peace in this country. Did Russia's cyber
attacks, if true, in the U. S. elections and most recently in Vermont hurt anyone?
No, they didn't. Like the President-elect has said let's move on and forget about
the past.
*The leading candidate for Secretary of Agriculture is Sonny Perdue III, 70,
the former governor of Georgia. There have been at least 7 other candidates
under consideration, but Perdue seems to be the top choice at least for now.
MY OPINION
Why is it that Trump is picking all these young people for his administration?
I'm 74 and I don't believe he's picked anyone that old yet. Looks like a case
of age discrimination to me.

WEATHER
Weather for Smithville, Ohio
Today FOG 45° 43°
Tue RAIN 48° 31°
Wed CLOUDY 30° 15°
Thu CLOUDY 23° 12°
The Weather Channel - Weather Underground - AccuWeather
Went outside (8:24 AM 1/2/2017 EDT) to take the trash containers to the road,
because this is pickup day, and took 1 letter to the mailbox. The temperature is 35°,
the humidity is 79%, the wind is blowing in from the south and slightly east
and the fog is heavy upon the land.
The fog still has presence without changing either way when I drove to Wooster
this morning. The mist of rain has changed little and the temperature and
humidity are the same as in the early morning. I appears that everything is
frozen in time except for me and my usual boundless energy.
