STORIES OF MY LIFE AND TOLD IN ONE DAY....

I believe I've told you I'm having a colonoscopy. My consultation with Dr. Jabour

is today at his office at 10:30 AM, but the instructions said to arrive 10 to 15

minutes early to finish registering. Why? Why don't doctors set the appointment

for 10 to 15 minutes early anyway? I actually have 2 appointments. One at 10:15

AM and one at 10:30 AM. It's certainly confusing to me.

My last colonoscopy was in May of last year (2016) in Las Vegas. For you

youngsters or others who have not had a colonoscopy it goes something like

this.

Well first let me back up a little and tell you why the procedure is performed.

Colon cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer deaths in women and men

combined in the U.S. The American Cancer Society estimates that around 137,000

Americans will be diagnosed with colon cancer and around 50,000 will die

because of this type of cancer. I you get a colonoscopy soon enough and

doctors can remove the cancer, you will be one of the 87,000 survivors.

Now back to the explanation of how the colonoscopy is performed. The doctor

prescribes a plastic container that is filled with a powder-like substance to mix

with a prescribed amount of water which after mixing is drank to clean the

bowel of all poop. This usually is started at least one or two days before surgery

(colonoscopy). During this time you cannot eat and can drink only a minimal

amount of liquid besides the prescription explained above.

I just got back from Dr. Jabour's (12:26 PM 1/18/2017 EDT). And guess what? The

good doctor said that a colonoscopy is not necessary for me now and we (Dr.

Jabour and I) decided to wait until May (2017). So I'll wait until May, unless my

drop-dead date don't come first, to explain what I'm going through when I have

my colonoscopy.

HEALTH

*I've had an upset stomach for the last two days and because of that I'm not eating

very much. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's my gall bladder which I have never

had any trouble with. All I know is that if don't eat as much I'll lose the weight that

I wanted to.

*Klebsiella pneumonaiae is a drug resistant (all drugs approved by the Centers for

Disease Control (CDC)) bacterium in a class of drug resistant bacteria called

carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE). A Nevada woman in her 70s

went to a hospital with signs of sepis (much like blood poisoning of the past). After

testing, doctors discovered the bacterium, but the woman died this past September.

WEATHER

Weather for Smithville, Ohio

Today     CLOUDY                    38° 31°

Thu        PARTLY_CLOUDY   47° 33°

Fri          RAIN                            51° 43°

Sat          MOSTLY_CLOUDY  57° 44°

The Weather Channel - Weather Underground - AccuWeather

I really cannot complain about the forecasted temperatures for the next 3 days.

I'm sure it's above the average temperatures for this time of year.

(4:21 AM 1/18/2017 EDT). The inside temperature is 72° and the humidity is 48%.

I'll now take the weather gauge outside and then check it in an hour or so.

(7:17 AM 1/18/2017 EDT). I went out and grab the weather gauge. The temperature

is 40°, the humidity is at 78% and will increase because of the beginning rainfall.

It's still dark but I could make out the American flag on the border pole on the

northeast corner of the property. The flag tells me that the wind is coming in from

the north and slightly east at about 3 mph more or less. This is the flag that I have

not replaced and I'm hoping to do that today.

(9:07 AM 1/18/2017 EDT). The inside temperature is 71° and the humidity is 48%

the weather changing very little inside the house.

(12:27 PM 1/18/2017 EDT). I just got back from Dr. Jabour's. The weather gauge

displays a temperature of 42°, the humidity is 75% and the wind is blowing in

from the northwest at about 5 mph.

I'm pretty much the only one in the house now that can which I told you about the

other day. I drove Bill to Ashland today with 2 large and 4 small empty bottles

that oxygen is stored in. The company is DASCO and all we do is take the 6

empty bottles in to the company who bring out an equal number of bottles with

filled oxygen. It's a nice drive on U.S. Route 250 with two quaint towns named

Rowsburg and Pittsburg along the way and back. Old houses, farm fields and

barns that Aunt Bea and Mother would like. Every time I see these old houses,

farm fields and barns I think of Aunt Bea and Mother.
