STORIES OF MY LIFE AND TOLD IN ONE DAY....

I've already told you the story of the "Old Vagabond," while I was in Las Vegas,

but I have another story to tell of that time in my life. This story is about a group

of people who speak the romance language of the Spaniards and are known as

Hispanics who have at one time immigrated from Latin American or South

America.

Las Vegas is known as Hawaii's 9th island because of all the Hawaiians that have

immigrated to Las Vegas. Well, Las Vegas should be Latin and South America's

9th island or country because so many Hispanics have immigrated to Las Vegas.

The total population of Las Vegas is 478,434 and the Hispanics make up 23.6%

with a population of 112,962.

The not Hispanic or Latino makes up 76.4% with a population of 365,472 and with

white alone, which included me at the time, is 58% and a population 277,704.

Blacks make up 10.5% and Asians 6.4% of the not Hispanic or Latino population.

Of other which means normally mixed race other was 4.2% which included the

beautiful people of the Pacific islands and again not Hispanic or Latino.

I believe that the Hispanic percentage of population in the area where I stayed

and slept in Mother's Honda in the Walmart parking lot neared 70% because of

a culture's tendency to congregate with their own kind.

All where friendly with kids, usually 3 or 4 after 8 years of marriage, their

children playing and laughing in the aisles of Walmart their parents keeping

one eye out for their safety.

I knew Caesar personally who was a manager for McDonald's inside the Walmart

and one day introduced me to his large family, his Mother, Caesar and maybe 4

other kids his brothers and sisters.

I knew Zeus who ran the storage company just a mile south on Craig Street where

I rented a small storage unit who was friendly and polite.

Of all the Hispanics I have meet, I know of only 2 instances were the family was

separated. One was when I was an employee of Walmart in Omaha were a Hispanic

man hung his head and said his wife had left him and his son beside him. The

second was a Hispanic woman I met in Las Vegas who said she had to quit being

an U.S. soldier or not see her kids because her husband had left.

In the the end and in the words of Will Rogers, except for the word "man" that I've

replaced with Hispanic, I will say "I never met a Hispanic I didn't like."

WE CELEBRATE TODAY

*International Street Children's Day.

UNICEF (United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund created

in 1946) estimates that there are 100 million children around the world who are

homeless and living on urban streets.

There are 196 countries in the world today and America has more than 1 million

homeless children and one of the highest percentages of homeless children in

world. The state of California has the dubious distinction of having the 3rd most

home-less children in the United States percentage wise. An estimated 200,000.

It is a sad commentary that the richest nation in the world is home to over 1

million homeless children.

WORLD

*The UNWFP (United Nations World Food Program) has restarted the airdrops of

food to besieged citizens of the city of Deir al-Zor after being halted on January 15

after ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) divided the area after over running the

food drop zone. WFP (World Food Program) stated they now have a new drop zone

to drop food to the 93,500 Syrian citizens and the first series of air drops began 2

days ago.

*The Boy Scout leadership will now allow transgender ("denoting or relating to a

person whose sense of personal identity and gender does not correspond with

their birth sex") children who are identified as boys to join its boys only Boy

Scouts.

*Let's try to figure out what Trump's executive order banning refugees is all

about:

1.  "It placed a temporary hold on any refugees entering the U.S. for 120 days,

until officials decide on a new screening process."

2.   "It placed an indefinite hold on the entry of Syrian refugees fleeing the war

in their country."

3.   "It placed a 90-day hold on any entry by citizens of seven Muslim-majority

countries: Syria, Iraq, Libya, Iran, Sudan, Somalia and Yemen."

4.   "It prioritized the entry of Christian refugees over refugees of other faiths."

5.   "Green card holders from the seven listed countries will be evaluated on a

case-by-case basis to determine if they can enter the U.S."

According to the Pew Research Center America admitted almost 85,000 refugees,

almost 39,000 being Muslim, and of that number 12,500 were from the Syrian

Civil War.

*Who is for, against and other related to Trump's executive order refugee ban:

FOR:

1.   Evangelist Franklin Graham, all of the Southern Baptists, militia groups, the

Klu Klux Klan and all the hate groups like I told you yesterday.

2.   A Rasmussen Poll says that most Americans support the refugee ban.

3.   Secretary of Defense, retired Marine general, James "Mad Dog" Mattis is

preparing a ban exemption list for Iraqis.

AGAINST:

1.    Arnold Schwarzenegger, the actor use be a conservative, but I think he's

lived in California too long and has become a liberal. He says the refugee

ban 'Makes Us Look Stupid.'

2.   Ex-President Obama who has been silent for a while slams Trump's refugee

ban.

3.   Elizabeth Warren goes after GOP (Good Old Party) leadership on Trump's

refugee ban.

4.   Retired professional basketball player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar says that

Trump's refugee ban (is) 'Pure Evil.'

OTHER:

1.   The Trump administration will allow 872 refugees in to the United States

this week.

*Miss Universe, Iris Mittenaere, became the 2nd Miss Universe contest winner in

French history, their last winner coming in 1953 when I was 11 years old but I don't

remember. Miss Mittenaere is a dental surgery student, receiving her crown last

evening in the Miss Universe ceremonies in the Philippines.

Rounding out the top six were Raquel Pelissier, Miss Haiti; Andrea Tovar, Miss

Columbia; Mary Were, Miss Kenya; Maxine Medina, Miss Philippines; and Chalita

Suansane, Miss Thailand.

Miss Mittenaere said to reporters following the ceremony, “We need good news

in France, and I think this is very good news”and "I think France and Europe

really need a Miss Universe.”

The continent of Europe has not seen a continent winner since Miss Universe

Amparo Munoz of Spain in 1974.

HEALTH

*I've decided to move the information about what I eat from WEATHER to

HEALTH. For the life of me, I do not know why I was typing what I eat there.

I can see no relationship between healthy eating and the weather unless I'm

eating more when it's cold and wintry and I'm hibernating or eating less when

it's warm, hot and balmy and I'm eating less because I'm working my arse off

in the flower beds and yard.

*6:29 AM 1/31/2017 EST. I'm making my 2nd pot of coffee and I'm not hungry

yet. We had Tilapia and steamed cabbage last evening and I got up in the

middle of the night, about 1:30 AM, and made a sandwich of the leftover fish.

*7:42 AM 1/31/2017 EST.  I'm eating a healthy sardine sandwich. The sardines

are good for you, the 100% whole wheat bread is good for you and the mustard

has no calories. What else could you ask for? I'm also making my 3rd pot of

coffee. Is coffee good for you? It depends on what day of the week (coffee is

good for you, coffee is bad for you, coffee is good for you, coffee is bad for you)

and who you ask.

10:51 AM 1/31/2017. I just got back from taking Bill to his heart doctor. The

doctor still says Bill cannot drive.

12:18 PM 1/31/2017 EST. Just this minute I finished my lunch from my mini-

refrigerator and the only food items I can eat without my false teeth. The last thing

I ate was a cage-free egg that I tapped on both ends and sucked out the innards.

BUSINESS

*I invested in a money market account recently at PNC (Pittsburgh National

Corporation) Bank and made $0.17 in three months. So I decided to move all of

that money to a mutual fund investment account and in 2 weeks I've made

about $9.00.

POLITICS

*Some Tweets from the new President, Donald Trump:

"The American dream is back. We’re going to create an environment for small

business like we haven’t had in many, many decades!"

"Where was all the outrage from Democrats and the opposition party (the media)

when our jobs were fleeing our country?"

"I have made my decision on who I will nominate for The United States Supreme

Court. It will be announced live on Tuesday at 8:00 P.M. (W.H.)"

"If the ban were announced with a one week notice, the "bad" would rush into our

country during that week. A lot of bad "dudes" out there!"

"There is nothing nice about searching for terrorists before they can enter our

country. This was a big part of my campaign. Study the world!"

"Only 109 people out of 325,000 were detained and held for questioning. Big

problems at airports were caused by Delta computer outage,....."

"...Senators should focus their energies on ISIS, illegal immigration and border

security instead of always looking to start World War III."

"The joint statement of former presidential candidates John McCain & Lindsey

Graham is wrong - they are sadly weak on immigration...."

"Christians in the Middle-East have been executed in large numbers. We cannot

allow this horror to continue!"

"Our country needs strong borders and extreme vetting, NOW. Look what is

happening all over Europe and, indeed, the world - a horrible mess!"

*Just like his job on "The Apprentice", Donald Trump, the actor, had to from time

to time fire people. He still somewhat of an actor and a President to boot and he

fired Sally Yates, the acting attorney general and an Obama appointee for

refusing to defend in court Trump's refugee and immigration ban.

She will by longtime federal prosecutor Dana J. Boente who promises to defend

Trump's executive order on the refugee ban.

Sources say that Ms Yates .... "is weak on borders and very weak on illegal

immigration."

WEATHER

Weather for Smithville, Ohio

Today    SNOW                         36° 31°

Wed       CLOUDY                    34° 18°

Thu        PARTLY_CLOUDY   24° 13°

Fri          CLOUDY                    23° 10°

The Weather Channel - Weather Underground - AccuWeather

*6:29 AM 1/31/2017 EST.  I'm going to wait until daylight (about 7:30 AM) to go

out and get the weather gauge and bring it back into the house.

*The weather report on TV last night said that this area of northeastern Ohio

is ahead in rainfall by 2 1/2 inches, but behind in snow fall by 16 inches. Snow

is forecasted for today which will add 4 inches to the 12 inches just east of

Cleveland, but it will snow about 2 to 3 inches here which will be added to

the 2 inches on the ground for a total accumulation of 4 or 5 inches of snow.

*7:38 AM 1/31/2017 EST. I just went outside to get the weather gauge. The

temperature is 30° which matches the temperature only gauge, the humidity

is 78%, it's snowing tiny flakes which are swirling around and prevents me

from calculating the wind speed and direction. The American flag is wet with

snow and it cannot lift itself enough to blow.

*8:54 AM 1/31/2017 EST. The inside weather is a temperature 71° and a

humidity of 75%. There is something wrong with this humidity reading

because on the dehumidifier is reads 30%. I believe the humidity level in

my room is higher because it is so isolated, no heat and close to the outside

wall.

*11:46 AM 1/31/2017 EST. I just got back from getting the mail. Nothing for me

today. People always say "the check is in the mail" and you know what? I did

get a check yesterday from a dentist that the insurance paid for Ryan.

Everyone in the house has falses except for Ryan. It was of a rather large

amount, $5. Woopee!

The temperature outside is a balmy 41° and the snow has stopped and has

melted from the roadways. The humidity is 69% and the American flag has

dried itself enough to blow in from the west at 5 mph more or less.
