HEALTH

**11:40 AM 3/25/2017 EDT. I know a few people that say I'm "too old to cut the

mustard anymore."

Of course I don't believe them.

**I've always liked to jog. The last time I remember attempting to jog was when

I was in Virginia helping Mother with her life and before she needed almost

constant attention. From the Bridgewater Car Wash where my nephew Kevin works

to the windmill at the Dayton Farmer's Market on U. S. Route 42 is a mile in distance.

I attempted on several occasions to jog for a short distance, walk for a short distance,

jog for a short distance, etc. But I always overdid it and either suffered a groin pull

or shin splints.

11:43 AM 3/25/2017 EDT. So after almost 20 years of no jogging, I've decided to try

and jog again. I believe that the most important thing is to stretch first. It is said

that older folks like me can maintain their agility and balance by stretching. That

means trying to stretch almost every muscle in your body. Stretching prevents

muscle damage like groin pulls, shin splints and other disabling maladies.

I've been stretching for the last several days in preparation for this morning's

attempt to jog.

**9:49 AM 3/26/2017 EDT. I just got back from jogging. Well it was more of a walk

than a jog. I probably jogged about 300 paces and walked about a 1000 paces more

or less. I just need to careful at first and not incur a disabling injury.

**7:43 AM 3/27/2017 EDT. I'll try again today to jog this morning although the

threat of rain appears in the skies. As long as it is a light farmer's rain and not a

cloudburst I should be able at least to match the 300 jogging steps of yesterday.
