YESTERDAY AND TODAY

**After driving Bill to and from his doctor's appointment yesterday I had little time for

anything else except to go to Rite Aid for several prescription medications for Bill and

Ryan. I also bought all of the Orleans sardines that where on the $1 shelf, maybe about 8

cans, to replenish my stock.

I didn't even have time to post a video or post information about picture postcards that

I've sent to members of postcrossing.com.

**Today will be mostly sunny with a high temperature of 63°. The low temperatures in the

last few days have been nearing the freezing mark. I hope that these low temperatures

have not killed the grass seed I planted. If so, I'll have to plant the grass seed for the 3rd

time. After I complete this post this morning I'll go outdoors and mow the lawn.

I HAVE SOMETHING ON MY MIND

**6:07 AM 5/9/2017 EDT. Right now I don't have anything on my mind, but I'm sure I'll

think of something later.

**Well, I've thought of something which has been on my mind for sometime. My long hair

has grown to about 2 inches down past my shoulders. Is it a sin for a man to grow long

hair? The following says maybe yes and maybe no:

1 Corinthians 11:14

Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair it is a disgrace for him,

1 Corinthians 11:14-15

Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair it is a disgrace for him, but if

a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering.

1 Corinthians 11:1-34

Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. Now I commend you because you remember me in

everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you. But I want you to

understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the

head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors

his head, but every wife who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her

head, since it is the same as if her head were shaven. ...

Acts 18:18

After this, Paul stayed many days longer and then took leave of the brothers and set sail

for Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila. At Cenchreae he had cut his hair, for he was

under a vow.

1 Corinthians 11:15

But if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering.

Ezekiel 44:20

They shall not shave their heads or let their locks grow long; they shall surely trim the hair

of their heads.

Deuteronomy 22:5

“A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, for

whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.

1 Samuel 16:7

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature,

because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward

appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

Leviticus 19:27

You shall not round off the hair on your temples or mar the edges of your beard.

Judges 16:17

And he told her all his heart, and said to her, “A razor has never come upon my head, for I

have been a Nazirite to God from my mother's womb. If my head is shaved, then my

strength will leave me, and I shall become weak and be like any other man.”

Numbers 6:1-27

And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When

either a man or a woman makes a special vow, the vow of a Nazirite, to separate himself to

the Lord, he shall separate himself from wine and strong drink. He shall drink no vinegar

made from wine or strong drink and shall not drink any juice of grapes or eat grapes, fresh

or dried. All the days of his separation he shall eat nothing that is produced by the

grapevine, not even the seeds or the skins. “All the days of his vow of separation, no razor

shall touch his head. Until the time is completed for which he separates himself to the

Lord, he shall be holy. He shall let the locks of hair of his head grow long. ...

2 Kings 2:23-24

He went up from there to Bethel, and while he was going up on the way, some small boys

came out of the city and jeered at him, saying, “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you

baldhead!” And he turned around, and when he saw them, he cursed them in the name of

the Lord. And two she-bears came out of the woods and tore forty-two of the boys.

1 Corinthians 11:10

That is why a wife ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels.

2 Samuel 14:25-26

Now in all Israel there was no one so much to be praised for his handsome appearance as

Absalom. From the sole of his foot to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him.

And when he cut the hair of his head (for at the end of every year he used to cut it; when it

was heavy on him, he cut it), he weighed the hair of his head, two hundred shekels by the

king's weight.

1 Corinthians 11:6

For if a wife will not cover her head, then she should cut her hair short. But since it is

disgraceful for a wife to cut off her hair or shave her head, let her cover her head.

Jeremiah 7:29

“‘Cut off your hair and cast it away; raise a lamentation on the bare heights, for the Lord

has rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.’

"Did Jesus have long hair?"

"Answer: Most artistic portrayals of Jesus are of a Caucasian male with blue eyes and long,

light-brown hair. It is important to understand that this common portrayal is likely not at

all what Jesus looked like. Jesus was ethnically Jewish, so He likely had light to dark

brown skin, brown eyes, and dark brown or black hair. Jesus would have looked like a

typical Middle Easterner. The Bible nowhere gives a physical description of Jesus, so no

one should be dogmatic about His appearance. And, ultimately, we have to realize that

what He looked like does not matter. If it mattered, the Bible would contain a physical

description.

If the colors of His skin, eyes, and hair in artistic portrayals are likely inaccurate, what

about the length of His hair? Is Jesus being portrayed as having long hair also inaccurate?

Again, it is impossible to be dogmatic, since the Bible says nothing about the length of His

hair. But, if Jesus looked like a typical Middle Eastern male in the 1st century A.D., the

artistic portrayals are likely incorrect on the length of His hair as well. Many of the artistic

portrayals of Jesus show Him with hair that looks somewhat feminine. While there were

no specific Jewish laws, Jewish men traditionally kept much shorter hair than Jewish

women."

Just like everything else in our lives the Bible is controversial. Numbers 6:1-27, Judges

16:17 and Leviticus 19:27 point to growing long hair and the rest above are against the

wearing of long hair on a man.

So, I'll continue to let my long hair grow.

NEWS AND A COMMENT

*6:19 AM 5/9/2017 EDT. Condoleezza Rice: 'When you're not credible about Syria, you're

not credible about North Korea.' Fox News - ‎6 hours ago‎.

"Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice praised the Trump administration on Fox

News' "Hannity" Monday for its work with the Chinese government on confronting North

Korea's regime over its burgeoning nuclear weapons program."

**I've always liked Condoleezza Rice. In another 8 years she'll be about 70 years old in

2024 and eligible to run to be the first female president of the United States. I liked to see

that happen.

*6:32 AM 5/9/2017 EDT. Trump Advisers Call for More Troops to Break Afghan Deadlock.

New York Times - ‎18 minutes ago‎.

**The U. S. is just about alone in the world in sending troops to conflicts around the world.

Britain pulled out after 13 years in the Afghan conflict. Except for Russia's involvement

in Syria and France's involvement Yemen there has been little help from other country's

around the world. Why?

*7:37 AM 5/9/2017 EDT. Spirit flight cancellations spark chaos at Fort Lauderdale airport.

CBS News - ‎17 minutes ago.

**A number of passengers got irate when Spirit Airlines cancelled 9 flights. My simple

solution to that is like the story of the 'tortoise and the hare.' Take Amtrak. You'll get where

you're going a little slower but you'll win in the end because Amtrak has wonderful wide

and long seating, excellent and clean restrooms and food in the food car that's fit for a

king.

*7:47 AM 5/9/2017 EDT. Chicago police warns officers about gangs armed with high-

powered rifles. Fox News - ‎6 hours ago‎ .

"The Chicago Police Department warned its officers Monday about gangs armed with

high-powered weapons, after three people were shot to death over the weekend and two

cops were targeted in an ambush last week."

"In no place did the uptick feel more dramatic than in Chicago. The city recorded 762

murders last year — a 59.4 percent increase over 2015, and its highest tally since the mid-

1990s. A December report by the Brennan Center for Justice, a left-leaning think tank,

found that Chicago single-handedly accounted for nearly half of the 14 percent increase in

homicides observed in the nation’s 30 largest cities. Ninety-one percent of the city’s

killings were committed with a firearm.

President-Elect Donald Trump has used Chicago as an argument against tighter gun laws,

taking to Twitter to vow federal action if local leaders can’t stanch the tide, a talking point

echoed by the National Rifle Association’s top lobbyist.

But despite the soundbites, Chicago remains in the middle of the pack when homicide is

measured on a per-capita basis. In 2016, the city had a rate of 27.9 killings per 100,000

residents — half that of St. Louis, whose 188 murders amounted to 59.3 homicides per

100,000 people and preserved that city’s status as America’s murder capital. Baltimore

placed second, with a homicide rate of 51.2, followed by Detroit, New Orleans, and

Cleveland."

**I know it's not my place to suggest vengeance, but I do have a plan. Confine all rapists,

murderers, know gang members, drug dealers and others who commit crimes of a felony

nature against mankind to a deserted island with available food sources and plenty of fresh

water. Have patrol boats with offensive weapons circling the island. Let them keep their

weapons of killing and to survive they will kill each other.

Knowing this the people who intend violent harm in cities and towns of this country will

think more than twice before they commit any atrocities.

*8:21 AM 5/9/2017 EDT. New 'gray death' drug can kill with a single dose, authorities

warn. Fox News - ‎19 hours ago‎.

"A lethal new drug dubbed “gray death” by authorities that is dangerous to even touch

with gloves is being eyed in overdose cases across Georgia, Alabama and Ohio."

**Will there ever be a time when new killer drugs are not invented to kill people by

overdosing?
