YESTERDAY AND TODAY

**YESTERDAY. As far as accomplishing anything yesterday on a scale of 1 to 10,

1 being almost nothing and 10 a lot, I would rate myself a 3. I published 2 blogs.

Nothing else. One was my normal regular daily blog and 1 was a postcrossing to

someone I will send a picture postcard who lives in Heinola, Finland. I also

prepared a 2nd 1 for mailing to someone who lives in Hiroshima, Japan.

I also typed my medical records that had been scanned and could not edit what I

already had because they were JPEG ( Joint Photographic Experts Group) files.

After I had finished typing, I learned after looking it up online, that JPEG files

can be converted to PDF (Portable Document Format) files. I'll learn how to do it

for the next time.

Although it was a nice day in the 80's, I did not go outdoors to work in the flower

beds and the yard.

In the early evening I prepared and ate my usual salad while watching 'Cops'

on TV, then my prayer and to bed.

**TODAY. After publishing my daily blog, I need to drive to Country Corner

Animal Clinic for a case of canned dog food for our dog, Dolly Jo. I just looked it

up online and their hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Dolly

Jo needs a special Purina variety because of an ailment she has and has

remained healthy because of the canned dog and the exercise she gets. If you

have watched about 5 videos of me driving her to Wags and Whiskers in Orrville

to her hair salon, you know how hyper she is.

Later on I'll drive to Wooster for a doctor's appointment and then maybe to

Walmart for things we may need.

The weather forecast calls for high and low temperatures of 72° and 44° with

scattered showers and rain for the next 2 days. Although it has called for rain in

2 of the last 7 days, we've only had a mist of a rain 2 days ago. If it has not

rained before I return from the Country Corner Animal Clinic, I'll water all the

flower beds.

Google is celebrating Eduard Khil's birthday today. Just hover your mouse or

touch pad over the picture above the search box and it reads "Celebrating Eduard

Khil."

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

"Eduard Anatolyevich Khil was a Russian baritone singer and a recipient of the

People's Artist Award of the Russian SFSR.

Born: September 4, 1934, Smolensk, Russia

Died: June 4, 2012, Saint Petersburg, Russia

Buried: June 7, 2012, Smolensky Cemetery, Saint Petersburg, Russia

Children: Dmitri Anatolyevich Khil

Albums: It Happens, While There Is Yet Time" and more.

I HAVE SOMETHING ON MY MIND

**I took a long nap yesterday, quite unusual for me. I'm usually up and about

for around 17 hours or more and the 2 hour nap meant that I was only up for

about 15 hours, having slept for 9 hours. It's starting to cool off here. Maybe my

body senses that and is starting to hibernate?

How many hours of sleep are enough for good health?

Answers from Eric J. Olson, M.D.

"The amount of sleep you need depends on various factors — especially your age.

While sleep needs vary significantly among individuals, consider these general

guidelines for different age groups:

Age group Recommended amount of sleep

Newborns 14 to 17 hours a day

12 months About 10 hours at night, plus 4 hours of naps

2 years About 11 to 12 hours at night, plus a 1- to 2-hour afternoon nap

3 to 5 years   10 to 13 hours

6 to 13 years      9 to 11 hours

14 to 17 years    8 to 10 hours

Adults            7 to 9 hours

In addition to age, other factors can affect how many hours of sleep you need.

For example:

Pregnancy. Changes in the body during early pregnancy can increase the need for

sleep.

Aging. Older adults need about the same amount of sleep as younger adults. As

you get older, however, your sleeping patterns might change. Older adults tend

to sleep more lightly and for shorter time spans than do younger adults.

Previous sleep deprivation. If you're sleep deprived, the amount of sleep you

need increases.

Sleep quality. If your sleep is frequently interrupted, you're not getting quality

sleep. The quality of your sleep is just as important as the quantity.

Some people claim to feel rested on just a few hours of sleep a night, but their

performance is likely affected. Research shows that people who sleep so little

over many nights don't perform as well on complex mental tasks as do people

who get closer to seven hours of sleep a night."

From above: "Aging. Older adults need about the same amount of sleep (about 9

patterns might change. Older adults tend to sleep more lightly and for shorter

time spans than do younger adults."

Although I'm an older adult, almost 75 years old, my quality and length of sleep

is much better than a younger adult, I normally sleeping 7 hours or less.

What do I owe this to besides eating healthy and exercising? A prescription

medication named Quetiapine Fumarate or Seroquel which almost causes me to

be unconscious for 6 hours. I have my own names for all of my prescription

medications. Do you know what I call Seroquel? Sarah Palin. Thanks again,

Sarah.
