YESTERDAY AND TODAY

**YESTERDAY. We checked for mail in our mailbox directly across Smucker Road

at least 3 or 4 times eventually finding out that it was Columbus Day, all banks,

post offices and other institutions closed for the day.

"Columbus Day was named after "Christopher Columbus, the voyager who was

the first European to make the New World widely known to Europeans."

Wikipedia.

Aljazeera.com "is a state-funded broadcaster in Doha, Qatar" Wikipedia.

Aljazeera reports that "Native Americans and their supports have been

campaigning to have Columbus Day replaced with Indigenous (native, original)

Peoples' Day" for a long time.

I would agree with that because the celebration of many peoples would be a far

greater celebration than a celebration for just 1 man.

However, in 1 way Christopher Columbus and I are related, he discovered the

Americas' in 1492 and I was born in 1942. Same numbers.

After my usual publishing's, I drove everyone to Rittman to see a probate lawyer

and then to Orrville to Family Dollar and Save A Lot.

**TODAY. We should get tons of mail because of Columbus Day and Sunday with

no mail delivery either day. Do you have nothing better to do than sitting at the

kitchen table waiting for the red, white and blue mail truck? I do.

Or maybe you have nothing better to do than watch the weather on your

computer and/or cell phone. You don't need to look, I'll type the weather

forecast below:

High and low temperatures of 76°and 56° with partly cloudy skies, humidity level

at 72% and winds at 6 miles per hour. Rain is predicted for tomorrow and this

next Sunday and Monday with a high temperature this week of 78° on Saturday.

Nothing scheduled as far as I know, but you know what "as far as I know"

means. I'll just wait and see what happens.

I HAVE SOMETHING ON MY MIND

*We are what we are because of the decisions that we have made in our lifetime.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and the Google Doddle of today:

Fridtjof Nansen

Norwegian explorer

"Fridtjof Nansen was a Norwegian explorer, scientist, diplomat, humanitarian,

and Nobel Peace Prize laureate. In his youth he was a champion skier and ice

skater.

Born: October 10, 1861, Oslo, Norway.

Died: May 13, 1930, Lysaker, Norway.

Education: University of Oslo.

Awards: Nobel Peace Prize, Cullum Geographical Medal, Patron's Gold Medal.

Quotes:

I demolish my bridges behind me...then there is no choice but to move forward

It is better to go skiing and think of God, than go to church and think of sport.

The difficult is what takes a little time; the impossible is what takes a little

longer.

Books:

The First Crossing of Greenland.

Farthest North: The Epic Adventure. 1897.

Eskimo Life. 1893.

In Northern Mists. Arctic Expedition. 1911."

As I've told you before I've had many jobs during my lifetime, but nothing to

compare to the life of Fridtjof Nansen.

Would I have it any different? Yes. I would have liked to be a farmer that is sort

of an a adventure going out each day to accomplish many tasks, some preplanned

and some not, the "some not" being the adventure.

I also would have liked to have been a "geologist (who) is a scientist who

studies the solid and liquid matter that constitutes the Earth as well as the

processes that shape it." Wikipedia.

Is it too late? Perhaps.

You see, I'm happy for now being a publisher and a producer of videos.
