Nov 22. 2017 - 10:31 AM ET. - HAIR ON MY HEAD

**YESTERDAY. I went to my appointment to Wooster Eye Center. Same friendly

doctors and an all women staff. Dr. Steiner checked my right eye surgery and

said everything was healing nicely, to stop using 2 different drops 4 times a day

but to keep taking an antibiotic drop in the right eye 4 times a day and to

continue using my morning and evening eye drops for my glaucoma. My next

scheduled appointment is for December 11 at which time Dr. Steiner will give me

a new prescription for eye glasses if needed. I may not need eye glasses because

of the implanted lens, needing only 2.00 reading glasses which I can purchase at

Dollar Tree. And you know how much each item costs at Dollar Tree. If you don't

look at the first word of Dollar Tree. Just kidding.

**TODAY. 3:05 AM 11/22/2017 ET. Rise and Shine. It's going to be a glorious

day. Wake up, sleepy head.

Later on, I'm driving to the hair salon in Akron off Arlington Road, It will take

about 2 hours for Carolyn to get her hair done, so I'll take my computer and web

cam to McDonald's east on Arlington Road to type some quotes and tweets and

maybe dance in front of the web cam to the music of McDonald's radio.

"Could I count all the hairs on my head? I know that I don't have the time

here on earth. Maybe I can finish the counting in Heaven?"

**How many hairs do I have on my head? I know this is a strange departure

from what I'm usually typing about, but let's get on with it:

From: Founder & Medical Director Alan J. Bauman, M.D. is a full-time hair

transplant surgeon. Boca Raton, Florida.

How many hairs on the human head?

"You are born with about 100,000 scalp hair follicles to start with, but it varies

with natural hair color. Blondes have an average of 150,000 hairs, the average

redhead has 90,000. Those with black or brown hair average 110,000 to 100,000

*There are about 5 million hair follicles on the adult human body and men have a

few hundred thousand more than women. These follicles are distributed fairly

evenly throughout the body, with the exception of our hairless palms and soles.*

Shedding, hair thinning, decreased volume of hair and loss of scalp coverage are

commons signs of hair loss, which can be treated.

Let me try to figure this out. I was a towhead (very blonde) when I was a kid

with 150,000 hairs on my head. Some years later my hair turned to brown, so I

evidently lost about 50,000 hairs from my head. As to my 5 million hair follicles,

a few hundred thousand more than women, no hair follicles on the bottoms of

my feet, but if I did I could be a Red Panda among other animals. We lose around

100 to 125 head hairs per day, our hair growing about 6 inches per year. I

started growing my hair long 2 years ago and my hair is about 12 inches long,

so that's about right.

From: Dr. Mehmet Oz, MD Cardiology (Cardiovascular Disease).

"Mehmet Cengiz Öz better known as Dr. Oz, is a Turkish-American cardiothoracic

surgeon, .... For the first four seasons, shows were taped in Studio 6A at NBC

Studios in New York."

"Want some expert tips on how to maintain your healthy head of hair? First, you

can start with good nutrition. By eating two to three servings of protein a day

you can maintain a normal hair growth cycle. Wear wide-brimmed hats when

you’re outside to protect your scalp from sunburn and sun damage. Other ways

to maintain and care for your hair include proper styling tools and hair care

products that won’t damage and over-dry your hair."

I eat enough protein, mostly fish which is high in protein, contains omega 3, is

low in calories and is high in salt content which I like. I wear 1 of 2 wide-

brimmed hats I have when I go outdoors to work in the flower beds and the

yard. I use Paul Mitchell Shampoo and Conditioner and I know that it contains

chemicals that may damage my hair. A possible solution would be to wash my

in water and a non-toxic soap.

I'm still wondering how many hairs I have on my head and maybe, just maybe,

if I start counting today, if I can finish counting before the grass grows over me?
