*"Scott Kelly Spent a Year in Space, and Now He Has Different DNA Than His

Identical Twin Brother. Scott and Mark Kelly are identical twin brothers — at

least, they were until Scott spent a year living in space.

When Scott Kelly returned to Earth after a 340-day voyage aboard the

International Space Station (ISS) two years ago, he was 2 inches taller than he'd

been when he left. His body mass had decreased, his gut bacteria were

completely different, and — according to preliminary findings from NASA

researchers — his genetic code had changed significantly. (Interestingly, Scott

Kelly has since shrunk back down to his initial prespaceflight height.)

history. Following a DNA-altering space mission, they may not be identical

anymore."

"SpaceX has released a tear-jerking new video of the historic first flight of its

Falcon Heavy rocket, which launched Elon Musk's Tesla Roadster and a dummy

named Starman on a journey into the solar system on Feb. 6."

*"You Can Hunt for Alien Planets in Kepler Data Using Newly Released Google

Code."

"Researchers using Google machine-learning techniques to analyze archival

Kepler space telescope data found an eighth planet orbiting the star Kepler-90,

which lies 2,545 light-years from Earth. The code the scientists used to make the

discovery is now available to the public."

*"Famed Archaeologist 'Discovered' His Own Fakes at 9,000-Year-Old

Settlement. A famed archaeologist well-known for discovering the sprawling

9,000-year-old settlement in Turkey called Çatalhöyük seems to have faked

several of his ancient findings and may have run a "forger's workshop" of sorts,

one researcher says.

James Mellaart, who died in 2012, created some of the "ancient" murals at

Çatalhöyük that he supposedly discovered."

Engraved on schist, these sketches were also found in Mellaart's apartment.

*"Would You Eat Human Meat Grown in a Lab? Richard Dawkins wants to know if

lab-grown meat will eradicate the taboo against cannibalism.

In a tweet on March 3, the outspoken evolutionary biologist linked to an article

about the possible commercialization of meat grown in a laboratory by the end of

2018. Dawkins was practically drooling, but it wasn't over the food: "I've long

been looking forward to this," he wrote. "What if human meat is grown? Could

we overcome our taboo against cannibalism?""

*"Solar Storm to Amp Up Earth's Northern Lights Wednesday. A minor solar

storm will reach Earth Wednesday (March 14) and could amplify the planet's

auroras, making them visible from the northernmost parts of the U.S., space

weather officials said.

States in the "northern tier" of the United States, such as Michigan and Maine,

could see northern lights from the amped-up auroral display."
